Description
This one-day orthotic fabrication workshop aims to educate clinicians regarding various thermoplastic materials and outriggers used in the fabrication of static progressive orthoses for the wrist and hand. This course features 3 static progressive designs, 1 low profile mobilization orthosis and a variety of finger orthoses, which will be demonstrated by the instructor, Debby Schwartz, and then participants will have the opportunity to fabricate their own. Attendees will earn 6 contact hours (0.6 CEUs) and all necessary materials will be provided. The specific designs include the incorporation of Isoforce outriggers and Orfitubes, as well as various Orfit low temperature thermoplastic materials. This orthotic fabrication workshop is appropriate for new grads, OT’s, COTA’s, PT’s, PTA’s and CHT’s working with an upper extremity patient caseload and looking to enhance their fabrication skills.
Orthoses that will be demonstrated/fabricated include:
- Static Progressive Finger Flexion Orthosis
- Static Progressive Finger Extension Orthosis
- Static Progressive Wrist Flexion/ Extension Orthosis
- Low Profile Radial Nerve Palsy orthosis
- Assorted Finger orthoses
We will not be taking a formal lunch break. Participants are encouraged to bring any food/beverages as needed, which may be consumed at any point during the course.
