Right Hand Therapy is an AOTA Approved Provider of continuing education – Provider #11677.  AOTA does not endorse specific course content, products, or clinical procedures.

This half-day course aims to educate clinicians working in any setting how to safely and effectively manage thumb pain associated with thumb CMC arthritis. While the underlying pathology cannot be changed, this course provides participants with exceptional hands-on learning about the CMC joint and how effective pain management techniques CAN diminish pain and support your patients’ return to function in as few as 1-4 visits. Participants will have ample opportunities to practice manual techniques, see orthotic fabrication demos, and perform taping techniques. Participants will leave this course with the ability to implement an effective therapy program the very next day.  A certificate of completion will be issued to all participants completing this CEU requirement.  The educational level of this course is: mixed (beginner, intermediate and advanced level practitioners welcome!)

Course Objectives:

Following the course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the major anatomical structures of the thumb.
  • Differentiate between the various thumb instability patterns that impact functional use of the hand.
  • Create individualized treatment plans for patients utilizing functional and evidenced-based interventions specific to thumb rehabilitation.
  • Learning outcomes will be assessed during hands-on lab sessions via instructor observation.
